From a young age Nikki was fascinated with creativity as a form of expression, as a teenager her love for dressing up led her to experiment and create unique styles. In the sleepy town where she lived Nikki stood out like a sore thumb as she mixed influences of Vivienne Westwood meets Jean Paul Gautier, with a touch of hippy chic thrown in! At 16 Nikki started a foundation course in art, however due to distractions, of the amphetamine variety, Nikki failed her art 'A' level. In 1990 she gained a merit in a National Diploma in Fashion Design, encouraged by the creative support she received from her lecturers, she went on to higher education but in 1992, disillusioned, after choosing the wrong course, and seduced by the lure of a more 'psychedelic' lifestyle, Nikki dropped out of college (3 months before she was due to qualify!) She eventually pursued a career in care & support. Over the years Nikki climbed the 'Supported Housing' career ladder to senior management level, forsaking her creative flair, she occasionally repaired clothing for her family and experimented with interior design, (which she still loves doing).
Then one day, out of the blue , quite unexpectedly, Nikki fell off her perch, broke her ego, dusted herself down and asked herself,
'Who am I?'

In 2016 Nikki's creativity took off again, she made wire wrapped jewellery to begin, then decided to buy a sewing machine as she wanted to make Hugh a coat, as a gift. That was the start of it, Nikki got requests to make bespoke coats which reignited her passion for fashion!
But the more she researched the fashion industry's ethics, contribution to landfill and the waste that is produced by fast fashion Nikki decided to make a stand and from there "Anti~Fashion" was born!
Nikki is currently experimenting with the zero waste concept which has it's roots in Japan. Zero Waste fashion plans patterns so no fabric is wasted in a garment making process.
It's a new and challenging concept that allows designers to throw away the rule book and have fun manipulating fabric, layering fabric & threads and of course recycling everything to make original, unique garments. Nikki has now upgraded the old sewing machine to an all singing and dancing artisan industrial machine, along with a new over-locker Nikki is able to make professional, high quality, unique garments and has an awful lot of fun doing it!

In 2019 Nikki ceased the opportunity to put on her own fashion show in Wales. She cajoled Hugh, gathered some willing friends to be models and bribed her son into mixing music and stage managing the performances, 4 in all over a weekend.
