Design feats

Nikki likes to experiment with all elements of design, she hopes to inspire creativity in others by sharing ideas and to
show accomplished projects.

Paint Into Stone

Nikki used acrylic paint to bring a fireplace to life by using various
painting techniques like sponging, stippling and dry brushing to create a
 realistic stone effect.

Feature Wall for Nothing

To create this look Nikki used end of roll and scrap wallpaper to create a unique feature wall. She cut the wallpaper into squares and followed a pattern using 4 small squares below 1 big square. This project cost the price of wallpaper paste, it gives a unique, cost effective look for a feature wall on a budget and it is environmentally friendly, as many wallpaper stockists have books of samples that go into landfill if they are thrown out, additionally smaller wallpaper stockists have to pay a commercial rate to throw their old sample books away so this project is a good way to support local businesses as well as create a feature wall .

Refurnish for Nothing

These 2 projects were completed using scraps of sofa fabric sourced from a large sofa shop in England.
To make the book nook window seat Nikki pushed 2 pouffes together and cover them in one piece, of fabric made up from squares of the sofa fabric, that was fashioned to fit the 2 pouffes to make them 1.
Nikki then made back and side cushions
 to complete the look.
The giant bean bag, which can comfortable seat 2 or transform into a single bed, (depending on the positioning), was also made up of the sofa fabric samples. The outer cover is removable and washable and the inner cover, which holds the beans, is made up from an old curtain.

Two In One

Nikki had a cracked glass look round vase and candle holders, she decided to create a center piece for a coffee table so Nikki used some fairy lights from her Christmas stock, turned the oval vase upside down and placed the candle holder on top with a
tea light flame lit in it. A cost free project that made that made a lovely center piece.

Penny Table

Every household has loose change stuck in drawers or pots, Nikki collected as many pennies as she could so she could make a coffee table center piece. After sticking £23.00 worth of pennies onto an old and tattered coffee table she used black grout to fill in the gaps and then varnished when dry.

Lit Chains

Nikki bought a giant lampshade to go over the penny coffee table, she also went to a car boot sale and bought dozens of costume jewellery chains and pendants. Nikki attached the chains to the skeleton of the lampshade, using the clasps of the chains and made the chains various lengths. Voila a striking lampshade!

Trimmings Shade
Nikki had a lamp and shade, which had broken. Nikki striped the shade to it's skeleton and attached gold and silver look fabric trimming to the shade using a glue gun.
