Hi my name is Jess and I live in Dorset with my partner and lots of animals. I started drawing at a young age, I found it a means of escape from the traumas of my childhood. I suffered from sexual abuse,a mentally ill mother, watched my parents go through a messy divorce at a early age and lived through a member of the family suffering with addiction that made for many a violent encounter.
This led me to suffer from mental illness, depression, anxiety, PTSD and then lastly two phycotic breaks in my late 20s,early 30s. The outcome was a diagnosis of schizophrenia which felt like a life sentence.I have found great relief in looking after my animals and art. My friends and partner have supported me through many a difficult time, including several suicide attempts.
I hope in the future to work with willow , making willow animals and baskets, continue my ink drawings and have my own stall at craft fairs. There is always hope for the future
